Samuel Lewis Evans, Sr., age 69, of Seymour, passed away Friday, March 31. He was a member of Full Armor of Christ Church. Mr. Evans was a Vietnam Veteran in the U.S. Army. He loved his grandbabies and loved to fish.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his mother, Roxie Evans; father, Edgar Evans; brother, Ray Evans; sisters, Winnie Mae Smith, Mary Lawson, Phyllis Evans, and Sally Boling; son, Samuel L. Evans, II; grandson, Dakota R. Hatfield; and granddaughter, Kortney Evans. Survivors: wife, Janet Evans; daughter, Leah Hatfield; son, Daniel Evans and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Justin Cheek, Rachel Thacker, Anthony Hurst, Sarah Evans, Dylan Hatfield, Evan Hatfield, Ethan Hatfield, Samantha Evans, Hadlee Thacker, and Lily Anna Hurst; daughter-in-law, Stella Evans; sister, Doris Cooper and husband Carl; and special friends, Carl Costner, Steve Walker, and Paul Perry.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Steve Walker and Rev. Paul Perry officiating. Graveside 11:00 AM, Tuesday in Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jim Kitts and military honors provided by the American Legion Post 104.
