Steve graduated from Central High School in Springfield and was a member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church throughout his youth. He was a left handed pitcher for the SMS (now MSU) Bears. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and ended his career with the Lakeland Tigers in FL after hurting his arm. He returned to Springfield and coached for SMS and Central Legion Baseball.
He married Jan Elizabeth Beazley on October 4, 1986. They celebrated their 30th anniversary last fall with an amazing trip to Akumal Mexico. Steve worked for MODOT for 27 years and retired in 2012. He started in Construction on the survey party, moved to Traffic as a Permit Inspector and was then promoted to Maintenance as an Area Maintenance Superintendent where he served in Buffalo, Ozark and ended his career covering Stone, Taney and Christian counties. Steve loved the outdoors, especially his float trips on the Buffalo National River and his time spent at his lake place on Table Rock. He was an avid fan of the Cardinals, Chiefs and MSU Bears. He was a Shriner and was recently involved with the Shrine Mosque Preservation Baseball Showcase.
Interment at Linden Cemetery in Sparta.
