Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial with military honors, presented by American Legion Posts 569/200 and VFW Post 1303, will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Joe was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Versailles, Ill., the son of George and Lula Simmons Martin. Joe married Dorothy L. Northup Oct. 17, 1948, in Versailles. She preceded him in death March 30, 2001.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Alcoa Inc., where he worked for 25 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Bonnie Jo and Tom Mackiewicz, Renton, Wash., Judy and Boyd Lipe, Independence, Mo., and Vicki and Bruce Trunnell, East Moline; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Michelle Martin, Rock Island; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, George ``Abe'' Martin, Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister and three brothers.
