Ronald G. Winkler, 76, of Orrville, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on March 31, 2017 with family by his side at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster.

He was born June 17, 1940 on the family farm in Sterling to the late John and Ida (Hanzie) Winkler and lived most of his life in Sterling and Orrville.

Ron graduated from Norwayne High School in the class of 1958 and was on the varsity basketball team and enjoyed sports. He was a member of the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church and enjoyed collecting antiques.

Ron farmed all of his life with family and was employed by Landmark in Sterling and retired from Rubbermaid. He continued working on the family farm in Rittman before moving to Orrville.

Surviving is brother, Delbert Winkler of Smithville; sisters, Evelyn Baumgartner of Copley and Kathleen (Bill) Shane of Sterling; sister-in-law, Wanda Halpin of Creston; special nieces and nephews which he dearly loved, Randy (Brenda) Winkler, Scott (Wendy) Winkler, Jerry (Anita) Winkler, Ryan Winkler, Hope (Jeff) Nussbaum, Richard (Martha) Baumgartner, Larry (Christine) Baumgartner, Jeffery, Cheryl and Greg Baumgartner, Charlene Winkler, Chuck (Pat) Winkler, Kenneth and Christine Shane and Debby Winkler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed and Charles Winkler; nephew, Eugene Winkler; brother-in-law, Richard Baumgartner; and sister-in-law, Betty Winkler.

Services will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church, 10699 Steiner Rd., Rittman with ministers of the church officiating.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church.
