OBITUARY. Of F. M. Dorman.
There must come a time in life when all are made sorrowful. Nothing can bring such flood of tears, and to our hearts such sadness, as the icy hand of death. One day may seem a sunshine while perhaps the next may be dark and gloomy, and our hearts are filled with sorrow that none can express [sic] when the hand of death seizes one of our dear loved ones and carres [sic] them on to realms above. Then may we hear the sobs of a fond father, or mother, or of husband or wife, while tears like floods of rain are streaming down the cheeks of brothers and sisters. Such was the case on March 27, 1914, when our beloved father was taken to meet his God.
Francis Marion Dorman was born Sept. 29, 1850, and died March 27, 1914. He was the son of Mikel and Martha Dorman, and a brother to 6 brothers and 5 sisters, 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Hickory County and 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Oklahoma and 1 sister in Cedar County.
He was married to Miss Phebe Samples October 19, 1871. To this union were born 5 children. His wife and 3 chilrden [sic] having gone on before.
In September 5, 1868, he was married to Miss Sealiea [sic] Walker and to this union were born 8 children. One little son in this family had passed on before him.
He united with the Freewill Baptist church 26 years ago, and was a faithful servant until death. He was sick only 6 days with pneumonia fever. His suffering was great, but he bore it all with patience. His last words on earth were with a wave of his hand "I bid you all farewell" and then with a smile said, "I'm going to Glory and want you all to meet me there." Then smiled and was gone.
He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn his his [sic] loss. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.F. Whitesel and the remains were laid to rest in the Clintonville cemetery.
Father how our hearts are aching
Because thou hast gone before,
But we hope to someday meet you
On that bright eternal shore.
EVA DORMAN.
