SP5 Thomas R. Serrano served as a medic with the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry. On 19 Nov 1966 he and 16 others were killed in a vicious fight which became known as the "battle of Dragon Crater", in the Plei Trap River valley in western Kontum Province approximately 34 kilometers northwest of Duc Co village.

He was awarded the Bronze Star (Valor) for his actions during the battle.

He is the son of Dominick and Pearl Serrano, then resident in Kelly Lake, Minnesota.
