ST. LOUIS — John B. Neville, 88, of Kearney, Neb., died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Memorial services will be later.

“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord,” Corinthians 5:8.

John was born in Eddyville, Neb., on Aug. 8, 1928. He graduated from Eddyville High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s of Economics degree from Creighton University.

John is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Bettie” Neville, of 58 years. They were married in Anselmo, Neb., on Aug. 23, 1958.

John worked as a cartographer at The Chart Plant in St. Louis, which he eventually retired from. He enjoyed reading, traveling, watching sports, telling jokes and participating in the Knights of Columbus Color Guard. He was also a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.

John is lovingly remembered by his children, Mark Neville and Lori Venegoni and her husband, Mark; his granddaughter, Katie; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.


John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Neville; his brother and sisters, Joseph Neville, Angela (Neville) Crawford and Celeste (Neville) Norfleet; as well as his daughter-in-law, Michele.

John altruistically willed his body to the National Body Donor Program. A memorial service will take place, but the date has yet to be determined.
