Mildred Estelle Poplin Huneycutt, 89, of Norwood, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2017.

Funeral services will be hold at 4:00PM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Green Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Dry will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Mildred had shared with many people that at her death, she wanted to be buried on the first sunny day after the day of her death.

Mildred was born October 30, 1927 in Stanly County to the late Crowder Tillman and Estelle Mabry Poplin, Mildred owned and operated her own beauty shop in the Aquadale Community for many years. She was a long time and active member of Green Memorial United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was involved with many activities of the church. Mildred's outgoing personality will certainly be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hurley Huneycutt; brothers, Clegg, Kenny and Elwood Poplin and sister, Banks Harward.

She is survived by her son, Tim Huneycutt (Irene) and daughter, Melanie McEwan all of Norwood; grandchildren, Derreck Huneycutt (Karlyn), Devon Dignan (Mike) and Savanna McEwan (Kellen); great-grandchildren, Trendan, Crowder, Calvin and Natalie.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Trinity Place and Theresa Drye, Renee Huneycutt, Pat Long, Tressy Noles and Mannie Poplin for their care and support.
