Anna Mae Shelton, 77, of Troy, IL, born Sept. 17, 1939 in Henrietta, TX, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 at her home in Troy, IL.

Anna grew up in Santa Ana, CA and attended Garden Grove High School, Garden Grove, CA. Married John Carl Shelton Sr April 2, 1955 and resided in Overland Park, KS and Belton, MO with her husband. She moved 13 years ago to Troy, IL to be close to her son, John Jr. retired USAF.

Anna, along with husband: veteran John Shelton, were members of the Korean War Veteran’s Association. All her life Anna was an avid flower gardener, and loved to cook Southern style for her family. Her home was priority no matter what the occasion, where she expressed her creativity in many skillful handmade crafts.

She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Shelton, Sr who passed away on March 31, 1997, her parents: Dessie Mae (nee Cagle) and William Arthur Hill.

Surviving are her children, John Carl (Gerdine) Shelton, Jr., Troy, IL, Cheri Lynne (Shelton) DeCarlo, St Joseph, MO, Kimberly Ann (Shelton) (Michael) Marks, Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Amy Marie (Shelton) (Acle) Jenkins, Philip (Megan) DeCarlo, Tiffany (DeCarlo) Colhour, Michael Marks, Nikki Marks, Robbie (Andrea) Marks, Cassie (Marks) (Atheil) Barker; great-grandchildren, April, Adrianna, Taran, Meckenzie, Cameron, Hayden, Layla, Payton, Noah, and Mason; great-great-grandchildren Matthew, Lillian and Stiles; twin sister Anna Fay Corbett of Lima,Ohio, and younger brother Gary (Sue) Hill of Riverside, California.
