Mary Ann Green was the daughter of John J.Green and Martha Cannon, and Granddaughter to Archibald Cannon and Mary Jordan.
Mary Ann Green married James William Powell on Aug 25th 1836 in Thomas Co, Georgia.

James W. Powell and Mary Green Powell helped establish the Old Prospect Primitive Baptist Church. Her husband was one of the first Deacon's of this Church.
She is buried in Prospect Cemetery beside her husband James W. Powell, grave is unmarked only a foot marker was still visible in 1990.

*James Powell with wife and one male child appears first in 1840 Nassau Co, Florida. In same Census also is Mary's father John J. Green and her Uncle Reddick (Reddy)Cannon.

*James and Mary Powell then appear in 1850 Hamilton Co,Fl census with 7 children.
*They again appear in the 1860 Hamilton Co, Fl census.

*Mary Green Powell is last found in the June 14th 1900 Smithville, Hamilton Co Fl Census living with her Daughter Avie Ann Powell Bryant and son-n-law Lewis T. Bryant. She was 84 years old, and stated she had 13 children and only 6 were still living.
