Betty was born the daughter of Wilber Lambert Long and Leone Heathman. The family lived on the farm just north west of the tiny village of Granville MO in Monroe County.

OBITUARY:
Betty L. Hershey, 90, of Westminster, passed away March 30, 2017, surrounded by her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren living in Denver. Betty lived at the Arbors of San Marino for the last 8 months.

She was born January 3, 1927 in Shelbina, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbur and Leona (Heathman) Long.

She married Lindale W. Hershey in 1946 and had four children. They lived in Iowa, Illinois, and Arkansas before moving to Colorado in 1971. Both Betty and her husband retired from Rocky Flats in 1989. They bought a fifth wheel and spent their early retirement traveling all over the US. Most of all they loved Colorado and spent most weekend exploring the mountains.

Betty is survived by three of her four children, Sharon Chappell, Jim Hershey, and Teresa (Scott) Nardelli all of Denver; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Standard, Krista (David) Patterson, Brian (Shanna) Hershey, Brad (Emily) Hershey, Lisa (Jeff) Mallette, Nicholas & Ryan Nardelli; ten great-grandchildren, Megan & Christian Patterson, Alyssa Forrester & Tayler Standard, Cody & Faye Hershey, Benjamin, Peter, & Madeleine Hershey; Corbin Mallette; a sister-in-law Vicky (Leonard) Moehle-Neff of Russelville, MO, and two nieces, Carolyn (Gary) Kasson of Rogers, AR and Shirley (Les) Ballinger of Burlington, IA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lindale W. Hershey; her son Larry D. Hershey; her son-in-law, Jack Chappell; parents, Wilbur and Leona Long; her sisters, Margaret Bixby and Vila Richards.

Betty loved spending time with her family, going out to lunch with her children, attending church, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life is to be planned in early June followed by Interment in the Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont, CO.
