A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Feb. 14, 2015 (her 90th birthday), at First Community Church in Columbus, OH. Later that weekend, June Palmer’s ashes will be put to rest alongside her husband’s (Dean W. Palmer) at Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster, OH. The family will hold a final service for her during the week of Easter 2015 on Sanibel Island, FL – which was her favorite shelling beach and second home. Born in 1925 in Cleveland OH, she was very close to her only sister, Eunice (Kit) Bradley, and enjoyed visiting nearby family. After graduating high school, June attended Miami University (OH) and University of Miami (FL), and worked as an airline stewardess for American Airlines where she discovered her love of travel. She settled in Columbus OH where she met and married Dean W. Palmer, an attorney. Together, they raised a family of four children, countless small pets, and several beloved Welsh Corgis. June enjoyed celebrating all holidays, family gatherings, throwing parties, creative sewing, and home decorating. She was active as a member of First Community Church (Cols OH) and Sanibel Congregational Church (Sanibel FL), Scioto Country Club, Group Y of FCC, the Canterbury Unit of the Women’s Assoc. of the Columbus Symphony, Childhood League, as well as many other charitable organizations. She decided her calling was to make people happy & to spread joy with positive interactions with those she touched. June is survived by her four children Lisa Palmer Moore/Frank Moore (Mt. Pleasant SC), Peter Palmer (Santa Barbara CA), Amy Palmer (Seattle WA), Ellen Palmer/Mindy Sammons (Half Moon Bay CA); Grandchildren: Jessica & Avery Palmer-Sammons (Half Moon Bay, CA); Sister-in-Law: Jane Palmer Mitchell (WI); Cousins: Joen Lacee/Eugene Elliot (WA), Sue Friend (OH), and Margot Coryell (ME); Nieces and Nephews: Rob/Marilyn Bradley (CO), Randy/Kris Bradley(CO), Barbara/Wyman Varnedoe (CO), Karen Mitchell McKay (MI), Pam/Tim Lee (IL), Jeff/Linda Mitchell (MI), and Steve/Cathy Mitchell (MN). June is preceded in death by her parents Ellen and Jules Skirke; husband, Dean W. Palmer; sister, Eunice (Kit) Bradley; brothers-in-law: Carl W. Palmer, Robert C. Bradley and Donald C. Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Doris Palmer.
