Herman Barnett, age 81, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at his home. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Elva Byrd Barnett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Bennett Barnett and a brother, Everett Donald Barnett. Herman was a loving father and grandfather who was always happy and smiling. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, handyman projects and his dog, Roscoe.

Surviving is his daughter, Cindy Stephens and fiancé, Jason Norwood; son, Robert Barnett and fiancée, Arlene Adams, all of Charlotte; brothers: Bobby Edwards and wife, Ruth, of Green Mountain, Jimmy Barnett of Church Hill, Tennessee and Randall Barnett and wife, Debra, of Ledger; sister-in-law, Tonya Barnett of Telford, TN; grandchildren: Rebecca Stephens, Amanda Lanier (Kenny) and Elijah Norwood; great-grandchildren: Anthony White, Mark Lowery and Koby Lanier and step grand-children: Alice DeIvernois, Ray Clark and Aaron Adams (Alicia). Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Eddie Matthews will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery on Pigeon Roost Road with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
