Florence J. Schmidt, 90 years old, of Burr Ridge, a former resident of Brookfield from 1965 - 2009, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at LaGrange Memorial Hospital in LaGrange, IL.
A Funeral Mass was held at St. Barbara's Church in Brookfield, IL. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Florence was a homemaker and a member of St. Barbara Parish Council of Catholic Women and of Gold Star Mothers. She enjoyed gardening and doing embroidery.
Florence is survived by her daughters, Pat (Calvin) Schrandt, Cindy (Tom) Ulepich and Linda (Joseph) DePiano; sons, Joseph (Nadine), Gerald, Wayne (Lisa) and Terry (Lenora) Schmidt; brother, Wally Walters; sisters, Madeline Moore, Charlene Wiegel and Evelyn Joy; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Gilbert Schmidt, who passed away February 15, 1989; sons, Dennis, who passed away in 2000 and Ronald, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1972.
