Alonzo purchased land here in 1848 and was identified in the 1850 census as living in district 19 of Edgar County. His household included wife Frances Rhea Gray, daughter Mary, brother Egbert Gray, and Daniel Wilson. We cannot find Alonzo Gray's grave and Edgar Cemetery was chosen to commemorate him. Alonzo and Frances passed away leaving children Mary and Joseph. Mary lived with the Egbert Gray family until she was an adult. She then married and lived in Sanborn, Iowa. Joseph's whereabouts are not known. Alonzo's family lived in Hyde Park, PA, now Scranton, and father Isaac passed away there. The rest of the family moved away and mother Phebe lived in Minnesota with her son Amos. Any information on Alonzo, Frances, Joseph, or the Isaac Gray family would be appreciated.
