Charles Loller West, Jr., 92, of West Chester, PA passed away Thursday December 30, 2021 at Paoli Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Mary Jane West (Detterline), with whom he had just celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Born December 2, 1929 in Wawa, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Loller West, Sr. and the late Elsie Reynolds West.

Charles grew up in Wawa around the train station where his mother was the postmaster. He would often share stories of his life in Wawa, and that is where he developed his love for trains. He has an extensive collection of model trains and railroad memorabilia.

His early education was at Lima School. He later attended and graduated from West Chester High School in 1947 where he was a member of the percussion section of the marching band.

Charles worked as a Splicer for Bell Telephone of PA and subsequently Verizon for thirty-nine years, starting in 1947 and retiring in 1986.

He served in the Army National Guard from June 1948 to June 1951.

Charles was a member of Grove United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed camping and traveling in an RV with family and friends. He visited every state in the Continental US and Alaska twice. Charles also enjoyed spending time with family, doing jigsaw puzzles and the companionship of his dogs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon Parker (George), son, Steven West (Christine), daughter, Penny Coggins (Charles), daughter, Lisa Tarr (Carl), son, David West, grandchildren, Michael Reiffer (Heather), Kevin Parker, Brian Parker, Kelli Martzall (Donald), Kimberly West (Matthew Wisneski), Nicholas Coggins, Christopher Coggins (Whitley), Jennifer Vargas (Jeremy), Elizabeth Dunn (David), great grandchildren, Anna Reiffer, Evan Reiffer, Briana Ottenheimer, Eadie Martzall, Ashlynn Massimiano, Savannah Massimiano, Michael Wisneski, Madison Wisneski, Colton Coggins, Bailey Jean Coggins (deceased), Jackson Coggins, Roman Vargas, Mia Vargas, Avery Dunn and Liam Dunn.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Anna Marie West (Bang).
