Billy J. Gibson, age 84, of Columbus, Georgia, died on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Orchard View. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 11 a.m. with Reverend Matthew Avera officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Gibson, son of the late Auzie W. Gibson and Ola Mae Gibson, was born February 27, 1933 in Haleberg, Alabama. He lived in Columbus for over 70 years and retired from the W.C. Bradley Company. Mr. Gibson was a lifelong member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Erma B. Gibson; four brothers, Barslow, Jack, Wilford, and Tommy; and three sisters, Julia, Lugene, and Polly. Mr. Gibson is survived by two sons, Greg Gibson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Kevin (Michele) Gibson of Columbus; one sister, Martha Alford of Cataula, Georgia; two grandsons, Austin (Maci) Gibson and Hardy Gibson, both of Columbus.
