Cranston – Clarence “Earl” Hunter, 92 of Cranston, formerly of Pawtucket, went to his eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 20, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Poulin) Hunter. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Esther (Metcalf) Hunter.
Earl retired in 1992 from the American Universal Insurance Company of Providence, he was previously employed by Rowe Vending Company and Owens Corning Fiberglass. Earl and his wife enjoyed traveling; ballroom dancing and playing cards with family and friends. He was an avid baseball fan and will be lovingly remembered as a kind and gentle man.
He leaves his daughter, Cheryl Nelson and her husband, Dennis, of Cranston with whom he resided. Earl was the proud grandfather of Brad Nelson of Cranston, Brian Nelson of Boston and Kristen (Nelson) Fessler and her husband, Matthew, of Wrentham, MA, and the cherished great-grandfather of Avery Fessler. He is also survived by his niece, Elizabeth Rita of Cumberland and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Earl was predeceased in life by his sister, Elizabeth Lecomte.
His funeral will be held from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 699 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery Pawtucket RI.
