Adelen Josephine Kelm
(1930 - 2017)
Adelen Josephine Schneider Kelm went to be with her Lord in heaven on March 27, 2017 in Pflugerville, Texas at age 86. Adelen was born in Georgetown, Texas on July 4, 1930, one of eight children born to Ernst and Laura Schneider. She was baptized on September 14, 1939 and confirmed on March 2, 1944 in Walburg, Texas. She married Wilbert Kelm on July 23, 1948 and they lived in Walburg until moving to Pasadena, Texas in 1952. Their marriage of 55 years was blessed by two children, Phyllis and Scott. Adelen was very involved in various ministries at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Pasadena. After her children were raised, she completed her high school education and went to work as a cafeteria worker at Jackson Middle School. Eventually, she became the director of food services at Jackson. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer as a tutor at Jackson, and she also volunteered in the Bayshore Medical Center Gift Shop. Besides her love of family and friends, she spent a great deal of time sharing God's love in a variety of ways with children and with many others through her baking, ceramics and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbert, and siblings, Leonard Schneider and Lee Ethel Richter. She is survived by her two children, Phyllis (Donn) Trautner and Scott (Tammy) Kelm; five grandchildren, Keith and Brian (Emily) Trautner, and Michael, Matthew, and Amanda Kelm; and one granddaughter, Kenley (Kelm) Salinas; as well as siblings, Raymond (Lillian) Schneider, Dick Schneider, Iola Sturm, Lee (Carolyn) Schneider, Archie (Judy) Schneider, and sister-in-law Jeanie Schneider, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. We also want to share a special "thank you" to friends at the Pflugerville Health Care Center who lovingly cared for Adelen during her last three years. Memorial gifts may be given in Adelen's name to Concordia University in Austin, Texas or Zion Lutheran Church Altar Guild in Pasadena, Texas.
