Barbara “Jeane” Childers, 75, of Kappa, died at 9:32 p.m. Monday (March 27, 2017) at Heritage Health, El Paso.

Jeane was born October 21, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of Edwin and Irene Newby Apps. She married Wayne Childers on June 25, 1959 in Bloomington. He survives.

Also surviving are four children, Kimberly (Lonnie) Willis, Ka Lin (Kenneth) Aucutt, Kristy Alexich and Karla (Troy) Kilpatrick; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Debbie) Apps and a sister, Janet (Bob) Briggs.

Jeane was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; a sister, Joyce Watkins and three great-grandchildren.

She and her husband founded Childers Door Service. Jeane enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed snowmobiling, birdwatching and crafting with her daughters and trips on the “Spoon River Drive.”
