DUMAS — Dan "Toby" Kenneth Johnson, 84, of Dumas died Monday, March 27, 2017.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Morrison Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Dan was born Sept. 11, 1932, in O'Donnell to John and Flossie (Everett) Johnson. He served his country honorably in the Marine Corps during the Korean War in which he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He later graduated college from West Texas University in Canyon.

He married Barbara Rogers on Aug. 24, 1956, in Artesia, N.M. The couple moved to Dumas, where they would raise their family. Dan taught school for a couple of years before going into the irrigation business. He owned and operated J&S Irrigation for more than 30 years.

Dan was a very hard worker and later enjoyed refinishing silverware and silverware boxes. He also enjoyed flea markets. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Thompson and Billie Rantz.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Johnson, of the home; a son, Guy Johnson and wife Michele of Borger; a daughter, Kenna Johnson and husband Philip Buckmeier of Pilot Point; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Carlson and husband Lance, Jessica Andrews and husband Damon, Joshua Johnson and wife Kimberly, Sarah Brewer and husband Clark and Zachary Scott Buckmeier.

The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second St., Dumas TX 79029.
