Joseph was the son of John Hess and Bertha Feller. On 13 Jan 1936 he married Lillie (Dugger) Huesman. He retired in 1962 as a warehouseman for Belknap, Inc., where he had worked for 43 years. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Joseph died at Meadows South Nursing Home at the age of 80.
