He graduated from Lyons Decatur Northeast High School in 1986. He participated in many sports and activities in high school and was a very popular student and friend to his peers. As a young child he developed a love for reading books and playing card games. His aptitude for learning would have him playing adult card games, and beating them, at the age of 10. This love of playing competitive card games continued on with him for the rest of his life.
Kevin was a devout Miami Dolphins fan. He always had Dolphin memorabilia around. His prized possession was an autographed Dan Marino jersey. When the Dolphins were playing you knew Pip would be watching.
