Doug graduated from Weir High School in Weir, MS before relocating to the Crystal Lake area. He met Gabriella Woods and was married February 27, 1965. She preceded him in death on October 20, 1984. He then married Grace Dionson on January 31, 1994. They enjoyed many special years together.
Doug was a quiet man that enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved long walks, bike riding, and spending time with his family and especially joking around with his grandchildren. His fun sense of humor will be missed by many.
Doug is survived by his wife, Grace; daughter, Kate (Rob) Lesser; grandchildren, Rainey, Aspen, Raven, Ashton, and Rowan Lesser; sisters, Virginia (Douglas) Peoples and Linda Walker; special nephew, David. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Corazon, and many sisters-in law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gabriella; sons, Baby Austin and Jamie; sisters, Captolia and Julia; brother, Glover; and nephew, Charles Chaissing.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue Friday from 10:00 am until the time of a service at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
