Jessie Carr Henson went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2015 at the age of 100. She passed quietly at her home in Crane where she had been tenderly cared for by Dottie Carr and Barbara Medlin during the last months of her life. She was born in Cape Fair, Missouri on June 3, 1914, where she grew up on a farm along the James River and attended school. Jessie married Orie Henson on July 12, 1933 at the court house in Galena, Missouri. The couple farmed in the area and worked at the mercantile in Crane during the 1940's. After the birth of their son, Max, they moved west and settled in Boise, Idaho where they remained for forty years. Following retirement, they returned to their beloved Ozarks in 1986 and lived in Crane until present.

Jessie was a stay at home mother and homemaker. She was known for her delicious fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and blackberry cobbler. She was a master of crochet and made many beautiful afghans which she shared with family and friends. She especially loved gardening growing luscious tomatoes and cucumbers and her yard was always arrayed with beautiful flowers and plants. She could make anything grow! She was proud of her "Carr heritage" and spent many hours researching her ancestry and sharing stories about her family. Jessie was a good wife who supported and cherished her husband until his death after 75 years of marriage! She was an active member of the Eldorado Church of Christ in Boise, Idaho and the Cape Fair Church of Christ for 90 of her 100 years of life.

Jessie was the last survivor of her birth family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Orie Henson in 2009, and her son, Max Henson in 2006. She leaves behind a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Grandma Henson will be missed by all who loved her. Her family will especially miss her good food and the sweet old songs she sang to the children as she rocked them near the fireplace. She lived a good and simple life of love and service to her family. We love you, Grandma!
