Rachel P. "Penny" (Durham) Jackson, age 91, of Dover, DE passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
Born in Dover, DE on January 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Minous Durham and Estella (Pritchett) Durham. Penny was a self-employed seamstress and worked out of her home. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. Penny will always be remembered as an amazing cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence M. Jackson and her brothers, Albert Durham and Larry Durham. Penny is survived by her daughters, Marleen Y. Dukes (William) and Cynthia R. Metz; brothers, Daniel (Alverta), Marshall (Ginger), and Enoch (Doris); grandchildren, Todd Dukes (Barbara), and Matthew, Michael, and Madison Metz; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Layla Dukes.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Private interment services for family will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
