Eleanor Hoban, age 98, formerly of Osman, passed away and joined her beloved husband, Francis, in heaven on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehab Center, New Holstein.

Eleanor was born December 3, 1918 in the Town of Eaton. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Wollersheim) Adelman. She attended school at Sunnyside Grade School and also St. Gregory Catholic School. On November 14, 1942, she married Francis Hoban at St. Gregory Church in St. Nazianz. Father Fintan Holzknecht presided over the ceremony. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. She and Francis enjoyed farming together in the Town of Meeme and later running the general store in Osman for 30 years. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting, gardening, puzzles and being with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis on January 9th, 2001. Also preceding her in death were four brothers and one sister-in-law (Alphonse & Rita, Norman, Elmer and Alois) and four sisters and two brothers-in-law (Hildegard & Elmer Rabe, Georgiene Herriges, Marcella Gruber and Marian & Wilmer Gruber), brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law (Alice & Ed McNulty, Edward & Agnes Hoban, Veronica & Carl Gill)

She is survived by 4 sons, William (Ann), Patrick (Bonnie), Michael (Margie) and Thomas (Julie). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren Barbara (Duane) Dehne, Joseph (Leah) Hoban, Catherine (David) Herr, Elizabeth (Christopher) Crotty, David (Laura) Hoban, Jennifer (Jason) Brockway, Bradley (Maria) Hoban, Brandon Hoban, Ben Hoban, Jake Hoban, Dexter (Abby) Hoban, Tyger (fiance Celeste) Hoban and Jamie Hoban, She is further survived by 18 great grandchildren; Tess Dehne, Caleb Hass, Adam Hoban, Isaac, Alex and Ellie Herr, Makenna, Chase, Noah, and Ryan Crotty, Sara, Katie and Emily Hoban, Lillie, Kylie and Hallie Brockway, Hudson and Greyson Hoban. She is also survived by sister-in-law Violet (Robert) Spindler and brother-in-law Clem Herriges.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday March 27, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community (8100 Brunner Rd. Newton) with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. Burial to follow in the St. Isidore Cemetery in Osman. Family and friends may call at the CHURCH on Sunday March 26, 2017 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm and again at the CHURCH on Monday from 9:00am until the time of Mass.
