Robert died on August 7th, 1918 in the Third Battle of the Aisne, Picardie, France during WWI. He was a Corporal in Company C, 58th Regiment, Infantry. From records provided from the Pennsylvania Veterans Burials Cards & the Pennsylvania WWI Service Compensation, it is stated that Robert was buried in "Soldiers Circle" at the crest of Homestead Cemetery. The Pennsylvania Burial Card lists "Slab, WWI".

Robert's remains were returned home on the 29th of August, 1921. Information obtained from the Pittsburgh Daily Post, 29 Aug 1921, Morning Edition, Columns 1 & 2, article: "Veterans Bodies Are Scheduled To Arrive Here Today.

Robert was 23 years old.
