Carol Beverly Sparks, 82, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, blessing her mother, Audrey (Vaughn) Chioran, with one of the greatest gifts. Being that she was a Christmas baby, her mother named her Carol, after the beautiful songs that were sung.
Carol had a big heart, and there was no denying that she would give and do anything for anyone. Her passion to help was evident through her work at Sacred Hearts, as a social worker, and as a nurse's aide for many of the local nursing homes. She also enjoyed working as the seasonal manager for Pera's Motel, at Geneva-on-the-Lake, for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with her husband, Jonas Sparks, before his passing on July 16, 2012. They spent a lot of their younger years socializing with friends, and from time to time that meant a little dancing while listening to country music and bluegrass.
Carol loved shopping and buying clothes, but not as much as she loved eating and spending time with her family. There was never a time where she did not ask her family what they wanted to eat, whether they were going out to eat at Olive Garden, or she was cooking dinner herself.
She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Diana Gray and Christine (Kevin) Morris; sons, Billy Hale and Jerry (Beth) Sparks; grandchildren, Crystal (Jack) Boland, April Harris, Kendra (Brian Sterrick) Knight, Jennifer (Sean) Corrigan, Danny Morris, Stewart (Becky) Cramlet, Peggy Wilcox, and Tonya (Scott) Hughell; and many great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Jonas Sparks.
A service will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Ashtabula Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Rd, Ashtabula, with Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, in Rock Creek. Calling Hours will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 Noon.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
