Selma E Brown, 79, 85 Archer Avenue died Wednesday, (Aug 11) at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Brown was born and educated in Butler, SD. After her schooling, she moved to Omaha, NE and later returned to SD. In 1942 she moved to California and settled in San Francisco. She had worked as a hostess at the San Francisco Press Club and the Bellevue Hotel. After her retirement, she moved to Napa in 1962. She was past worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in San Francisco and a member of Keystone Chapter No. 235 O.E.S. in Napa, Veterans of World War I Auxiliary and the Culinary Workers Union in San Francisco. Survivors include her husband, Calvin H Brown of Napa; three sons, Lloyd R. O'Connor and William E. O'Connor both of San Francisco and James B O'Connor of Napa; a sister, Clara Kline of Wheatland, WY; a brother, David Nelson of Wheatland, WY and eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 1pm Saturday under the auspices of Keystone Chapter No. 235 O.E.S. and Father Roy Bennett at the Chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service. Interment will be private at Napa Valley Memorial Gardens in Napa.
Cause of Death: Bronchopneumonia; Diverticulitis; Inanition.
