Geraldine Shanks, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Signature Healthcare. She worked for 25 years at Quaker Maid and retired in 1996 from Union Hospital. Geraldine was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Martinsville, Ill., to Lester Shanks and Edna May (Barr) Shanks.
She is survived by nieces, Susann Shanks and fiancé David Stewart, and Cathy Gilbert and husband Bill; a brother, Clifford Shanks; a stepsister, Juanita McNary; great-nieces, Stacie Guthrie, Mindy Guthrie, Hannah Bullard and Courtney Bullard; great nephews, Floyd Brock Jr. and Dakota Brock; and a great-great-nephew, Dalton Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and his wife, Lowell and Marie Shanks; a stepsister, Marjorie Ulrey; and three nephews, Dewey Brock, Floyd Brock and Everett Brock.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
