Thomas Gill was baptized on 6 June 1698 at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Marshfield, Gloucestershire, England, a son of John Gill and Grace Harding.

He emigrated to Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers).

He married Alice Comly on 28 September 1719 in Abington Township, Philadelphia County (present-day Montgomery County), Pennsylvania.

Father of six children.

Uncle of Thomas Butler.
