Miss Franklin Is Married To Ray S. Moore

Miss Gwendolyn Eunice Franklin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry David Franklin of Swannanoa, was married to Ray Spencer Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Moore of Memphis, Tenn., on June 7 at 5:30 p. m. at the First Baptist church
in Swannanoa.
The Rev. O.J. Hagler of Carthage officiated. The church was decorated with white flowers and evergreens interspersed with candles. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. G. B. Weatherly, pianist, and Miss Etheline McGraw, vocalist.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin made along princess lines with a fitted bodice with Chantilly lace sleeves. The yoke of the bodice was of Chantilly lace embroidered with seed pearls, and the full skirt ended in a long train. Her fingertip veil was edged with imported lace and was attached to a coronet of Chantilly lace embroidered with seed pearls. She carried a testament belonging to the Lt. Robert M. Wilhide, her cousin. The testament was topped with a white purple-throated orchid.
Miss Joy Franklin of Morganton, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a frock of yellow rayon dotted swiss made along princess lines with boat neck, puff sleeves and full skirt. She carried a bouquet of mixed spring flowers and wore matching flowers in her hair.
Miss Elsie Moore of Memphis, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Catherine Wilhide, cousin of the bride, of Andrews, Miss Alice Gibson of Swannanoa and Miss Gwendolyn Collins of Wilmington were bridesmaids. Their dresses were made like the maid of honor's, and Miss Moore and Miss Wilhide wore pink, and Miss Gibson and Miss Collins wore aqua. They carried lace fans matching their dresses and trimmed with white satin bows and streamers, and wore coronets of mixed spring flowers,
Sherry Moore, sister of the bridegroom, was flower girl, and wore a dress made like that of the other attendants. Bobby Lowe, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer and carried the rings on a white satin pillow.
Tom C. Allen of Memphis was best man and ushers were Walker E. Meacham and Douglas Smith Jr., of Memphis, Eugene Magette of Chattanooga, and Henry Franklin, Jr., brother of the bride.
Following the ceremony a reception was held on the lawn at the home of the bride. The bridal table was covered with imported lace cloth and centered with an arrangement of spring flowers. A three-tiered wedding cake was topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom.
The bride's mother wore a blue shadow lace dress with a corsage of pink rosebuds, and the bridegroom's mother wore a dress of peach crepe with marquisette yoke and a corsage of talisman roses.
Assiting at the reception were Mrs. O.J. Hagler, Mrs. Mason Hoye, cousin of the bride, Mrs. Howard Ensley, Mrs. Warren Burleson, Miss Jane Caldwell, Miss Etheline McGraw, Miss Marie Lane and Mrs. Louise Wainscott.
After the reception the couple left for a wedding trip to Florida. For traveling the bride wore a pink linen suit with pink hat and an orchid corsage detached from her bridal bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Moore will reside temporarily in Knoxville.
Mrs. Moore was graduated from Swannanoa high school and Mars Hill college. Mr. Moore served for four years as a first lieutenant in the United States army engineers. He is now attending the University of Tennessee and will receive a degree in civil engineering in December.
