SP4., US ARMY, VIETNAMMr. Gene Edward Morris Sr. departed this life on March 8, 2017 at the age of 70 yearsold. Gene was born to Percy and Dora Morris in Mellwood, Arkansas on October 9,1946. He later moved to Helena, Arkansas at the age of 3.

Geneenlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1966 where he served in Vietnam for 18months. On July 19, 1968 he married Loraine Minor. While in the Ar-my, Gene wasawarded The National Defense

ServiceMedal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, and a Republic ofVietnam Campaign Medal. He was

honorablydischarged in April 1969.

Gene workedas a Union Steward for 25 years. He resided in Indianapolis, IN all of hisadult life and enjoyed watching sports, reading the newspaper, taking pictures,and shooting pool with his friends.

Gene made aconfession of faith at an early age. He later joined New Light Christian Churchunder Pastor Michael Scaife, where he served as a Deacon. Gene later joined hiswife under Pastor

Dr. T.Garrett Benjamin and Pastor Dr. David A. Hampton at Light of The WorldChristian Church where he was a member until he de-parted this life.

Gene is survived by brothers, Frank (OH), Rev. Darcell(IL), Leon (MI); sisters, Ruby Windhom (MI) and, Bobbie Fulks (MI); wife,Lo-raine; children, Rochelle Lacey (Michael), Gene Morris(Telisha), RobynWilliams (Hally), seven grandchildren; two great grand-children; and a host ofnieces, nephew, cousins, & friends.
