Darrel Eugene Farnsworth was born in Lakin, Kearny County, Kansas, on 12 October 1938. He was the last of five children born to Arthur and Minnie (Frickel) Farnsworth, a lifelong farming family. He was raised in the Ringwood area, and he himself lived and farmed there his whole lifetime, except for the time he served his country in the U.S. Marines.
Darrel and Delila Mae Nightengale were married on 7 November 1970 in Richmond, Oklahoma.
Darrel was a member of New Beginnings Wesleyan Fellowship at Ringwood, OK, and he was also a proud and active member of the Gideons. He went to area schools, the Mercy House in Enid, and many other places giving New Testaments to all the people he encountered.
Darrel had a soft spot in his heart for all animals—horses, cows, calves, sheep, donkeys, rabbits—he loved them all. He was a Jiffy Trip coffee drinker and a visiter at the Coop!!
While engaging a noble fight against cancer, he succumbed to a fatal heart attack on 17 March 2017 in Enid, Oklahoma. Those who preceded him in death are his parents, Arthur and Minnie (Frickel) Farnsworth; one sister, Lucille (Farnsworth) Hahn, and his three older brothers, James, Louis, and Robert Farnsworth.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Delila Farnsworth of the home, three children, Kenneth Farnsworth, Tabitha Farnsworth, and Douglas Farnsworth and his wife Tanya, two sisters-in-law, Betty (McCreary) Farnsworth and Lavonn (Brittain) Farnsworth; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
