Margaret Brede Adair, age 94, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born December 5, 1919, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Karl and Gertrude (Hutchings) Brede, and graduated from Cooley High School. On June 14, 1941, she married Wayne Adair in the Martha Mary Chapel at Greenfield Village, and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1994.
After Wayne returned from the war, they moved to Ypsilanti where she lived for 68 years. Her most recent residence was the Sanctuary at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Margaret enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing cards, entertaining, dance and traveling. She will always be remembered for her enjoyment and love of her family and grandchildren. She was known to add laughter and happiness to those around her.
Margaret was a homemaker, member of the Ladies Literary Club of Ypsilanti and volunteered at Beyer Memorial Hospital. Survivors include four children: Patti (Chuck) Quiter of San Diego, CA., Brian (Carolyn) Adair of Arvada, Co., Bob (Mary) Adair of Detroit, MI and Sue (Steve) Godell of Saline, MI; grandchildren: Kristen (Chad) Tyson, Heather (Anthony) Mcleod, Aimee and Allison Quiter, Matthew (Theresa) Adair, Gregory Adair, Rebecca (Nader) Sami, Emilie, Andrew and Daniel Godell; great grandchildren: Phillip and Patrick Tyson, Jack and Manhattan Adair, Emad, Emanuel and Moses Sami; her sister, Sue (Dick) Binder of Ann Arbor.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti with Pastor Keith Geiselman and Pastor Mike Frison of Knox Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor co-officiating. Interment will take place in the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
