Kasilof resident, Mr. Kenneth Wayne Brand, 58, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at The New Life Christian Center, 24215 Sand Street approx mile 2 on K-Beach Road. Pastor Hicks will be officiating.

Mr. Brand was born January 13, 1954 in San Jose, California. In 1992 he moved to Alaska where he worked for the Silver Bay Logging Camp on Afognak Island for 3 years. In 1996 Ken moved to Kasilof and has lived there ever since. Ken built roads in Haines, drove logging truck for Afognak and spent more than a decade hauling the ice roads. He served 3 years in the Army at the age of 16. Ken served a tour of duty in Korea during the Vietnam War.

The family wrote, "He was a man of moral, honor, and integrity. He displayed great valor until the very end; a virtue that will be cherished and remembered by his family and friends."
