Former Teton County lawman died after a lengthy illness. He had been the town marshall for Fairfield for 13 years and had served three terms as county sheriff until he retired in the early 1970s. Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fairfield. Burial was in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. He moved to Montana with his parents, who settled north of Terry. He was educated in Terry and worked on the family farm until moving to Hardin, where he also farmed. He married Mary Bromgard in November 1930 in Hardin. They later moved to the Fairfield Bench area, where they farmed until 1945.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 13. Survivors include two daughters, Alvina Harris and LaVerne Fisher of Fairfield; two sisters, Ann Kingston of Billings and Emma Dalke of Powell, Wyo.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.—Information from obituary in The Choteau Acantha, Feb. 21, 1985, Pg. 1
