She is survived by three children, Linda Best, Eugene (Marlene) Schmitz, and Michael (Connie) Schmitz all of Glandorf; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren with two on-the-way; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Ruth Calvelage of Ft. Jennings; a brother, Robert (Vivian) Plescher of Ottawa; and a son-in-law, Chuck Otto of Miller City. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Otto; a son, Louis Schmitz, Jr; a brother, Arthur Plescher; a sister, Mary Plescher; and a son-in-law, William Best.
Rita was a housekeeper for the Le Bell Motel, Ottawa and a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and the Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
