Milford H. Cox, age 87, resident of Grand Blvd., Shelby died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.

Born October 3, 1919 in Plymouth to John Otis and Rhea (Fidler) Cox, he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. A 1937 graduate of Shelby Senior High School, he was employed with the Westinghouse Co. for forty one years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a life member of American Legion Post #326, and member of the Shelby Eagles and Shelby Owls. Milford served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as a communications specialist. During his lifetime, he enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years Imogene (Light) Cox ; one son, Terry (Phyllis) Cox of Beavercreek, OH; two daughters Nancy (Barry) Dollinger of Gulf Breeze, FL and Sally (Jim) Messenger of Shelby; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister Marilyn Vance of Shelby, nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Cox in 1984.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday from the Barkdull Funeral Home. Reverend Steven C. Bond, his pastor, will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to Shelby Hospital Guild.
