Actress. Born Lola Jean Albright, she was best known for playing nightclub singer Edie Hart on the television series "Peter Gunn" from 1958 to 1961. After graduating from high school, she got a job as a receptionist at a local radio station in her hometown of Akron, Ohio. She later left her job in Akron to work at another radio station in Cleveland. After working in Cleveland for a little while, she moved to Chicago to work as a photographer's model and soon she was discovered by a Hollywood talent scout. At the age of 23, she won a bit part in the film "The Unfinished Dance" (1947) and then appeared in the films "The Pirate" (1948) and "Easter Parade" (1948). In 1949 she received her first big role in the film "Champion" along side Kirk Douglas. She would go on to appear in many films during her career such as "The Monolith Monsters" (1957),"A Cold Wind in August" (1961), "Kid Galahad" (1962), "Joy House" (1964), and "The Way West" (1967). She made her first appearance on television in 1951 in an episode on "Armstrong Circle Theatre". Besides "Peter Gunn", she would go on to appear in such television series as "Gunsmoke", "The Bob Cummings Show", "The Red Skelton Hour", "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour", "Burke's Law", "Peyton Place", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Medical Center", "The Incredible Hulk", and "Airwolf". She retired from acting in the mid 1980s. Her role in "Peter Gunn" led to a nomination for an Emmy award in 1959 and also to a brief singing career in which she recorded two albums. She passed away from natural causes.
