Dorthy Jewel Stephens Lamb, 74 of Vernon, Texas died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in Vernon, Texas.
Funeral services will be Friday, 11am at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Long officiating. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Dorthy was born Friday, May 1, 1942 in Fannin County, Texas; she was the daughter of the late James Stephens and the late Ruby Keene Stephens. She married Donald Lamb on May 28, 1965 in Lubbock, TX. She received her BS degree in elementary education from East Texas State University, kindergarten certification from Mid-western State University and Masters of Education from Texas Woman's University. She taught at Haskell 1 year, Flower Gove 1 year, O'Brien 2 years, Rochester 3 years, Vernon 25 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Donald Lamb of the home. Son Brian Lamb (wife Dawn Lamb) of Clear Lake, TX. Her daughter Carrie Couch (husband David Couch) of Burleson, TX.
Grandchildren Krystin Pitman (husband Sean Pitman), Ashlynn Lamb, Meagan Lamb, Erin Lamb, Lauren Couch, Ellen Couch, great grandchildren Stella Pitman, Catherine Pitman, Mae Pitman.
Her Siblings William Stephens (Diane), James Stephens, Wilma Jones (Paul), Kenneth (Pat), Harold Ray (Evelyn), Mary Ann Flackler (Larry).
Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 6-7 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
