Sgt. Sigua of Los Altos Hills, California joined the Army in July 2003 and reported to Fort Bragg in March 2004. Six months later, he deployed to Afghanistan to help with security during the country's elections. He deployed with his unit to Iraq in August. He recently established a relationship with a 5th grade class at Santa Rita Elementary School in Los Altos, Calif. He exchanged mail with the children and talked about what he was doing in Iraq. William graduated from Los Altos High in 2003, where he played offensive and defensive line on the varsity football team. An all-around athlete, he also wrestled, ran track, and had a passion for rugby. He had hoped to become a personal trainer, possibly attaining a degree in kinesiology at a four-year university. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal and Army Commendation Medal. Los Altos Hills, Little League field number two was renamed in his honor in summer 2007. He was 21.
