"SPRING HOPE - Carroll James Joyner, age 94, of 309 Walnut Street, died Monday, August 23, 1999, at Nash Grove Manor.
Funeral Service will be conducted Thursday, August 26, 1999, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church by Rev. Greg Anderson. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr Joyner was a life long member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Mangum Joyner of the home; one daughter Nancy Reins of Kenly; two sons, James Harvey Joyner of Portsmouth, Virginia, Phillip Wayne Joyner of Raleigh; one brother, Glenn J. Joyner of Knightdale; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Spring Hope Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Spring Hope."
Carroll James was son of David Sanford Joyner and Sue Genia Joyner; grandson of Ira Ellis Joyner, a Civil War Veteran who had six brothers - all seven brothers served the Confederacy during the Civil War.(Follow family links).
Carroll James Joyner married Edna Louvenia Mangum on December 8, 1927 in Wake County, NC. She was daughter of Samuel Parker Mangum and Annie Meta Jones Mangum.
