Jennifer Suzette McGraw Beckette (Purples), 61, of Logan and most recently of Citrus Springs, Fla., went to receive her treasured rewards in Heaven on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. The daughter of the late Verna Mae McGraw and William H. McGraw II was born July 13, 1955, in Mullens, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Roy C. Greene, brother-in-law Bob Shawl, brother-in-law Bobby Taraczkozy and step-son George William Beckette.
Jennifer enjoyed life and that joy was always centered on the church, the Lord Jesus Christ and in helping others. She was an active member of the Nighbert Memorial UMC and a servant at heart. She dedicated her life to spreading the good news of salvation through ministries of the Church. She was involved in the food pantry and soup kitchen ministries, vacation bible school, and lay ministry. She enjoyed making visits to member's homes, hospitals and the nursing homes as well as providing meals for shut-ins and the less fortunate. Her real passion was being part of the Emmaus community where she served on numerous teams and worked relentlessly behind the scenes. Emmaus sparked her interest in "clowning" and she ended up going to Clown College where she became a certified clown for the Lord. She proudly called herself, Purples.
Jennifer was active in the church serving on various teams and committees such as the United Methodist Women circles, lay delegate to the Annual Conference, Sunday School teacher, Children Moments, New Fellowship Sunday school class, Facing Hunger Food bank, van driver, resident clown, Conference Lead Team and whatever else the Lord directed her to be involved in. When the Lord called, Jennifer said "Yes" Lord; Send Me! Jennifer lived a wonderful life in her short 61 years, a life of real love with her husband Thomas Beckette where they shared love, laughter, life and Christ together. A lifetime of love was shared with those she leaves behind to cherish her memory including two brothers Max Green (Bobbi) and William H. McGraw III, (Debbie) and two sisters, Phyllis A. Shawl and Bonnie Taraczkozy along with three sons, Charles Jordan Edwards III (Mary), Philip Maxwell Edwards (Bethany), David Warren Edwards (Haley) and one daughter Staci Leigh Edwards (Jason Basalay), one daughter in law, Geri Beckette, two step-daughters, Nicole Catherine Soverns, Jessica Lynn Beckette (Scott Campbell) and one step-son, Thomas Lee Beckette (Shelley). Jennifer was so proud of all of her 13 grandchildren, Caleb, Joel and Cami Edwards, Lindsay Edwards, Jay Canterberry and Penny Bell Edwards, Liam Dunaway, Sarah and Emily Soverns, Lilliana, Ava and Sophie Ramirez and Jacob Beckette.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Saturday April 1, 2017 at Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Grant officiating. A Celebration luncheon will be held immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. The family would like to thank her wonderful doctors and nurses for all their loving care and support, Dr. James Frame, Dr. William Mullen, Debbie Farris, Karin Ritchie; Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast; Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church.
The wishes of the family are for any love memorials to be directed to the Nighbert Memorial United Methodist food pantry in lieu of flowers.
