Roger served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of The United Church of South Vienna. Roger retired from International / Navistar after forty years of service. He also worked for the South Vienna School and the Village of South Vienna for several years. He served on the South Vienna Board of Public Affairs. He coached South Vienna Little League for many years, Northeastern Baseball and Northeastern Girls Reserve Basketball. He received Northeastern's Golden Wing Award. Roger was the South Vienna Corn Festival Parade Chairman and Committee since its inception.

Survivors include his children, of South Vienna; of St. Simons Island, of South Vienna; of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Norman (Martha) Runyan of Lebanon; sister, Joyce Delabar of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of fifty-two years, Suzanne Runyan; brother, Charles Howard Runyan and brother-in-law, Richard Delabar.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in The United Church of South Vienna, 227 E. Main Street, with Pastor Scott Griswold, officiating.

Burial will be in Plattsburg Cemetery.
