Johnny enlisted into the US Army on November 20, 1963, and he retired after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of many awards including Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster) and NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3).
A resident of Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, he died March 22, 2017 at the age of 76.
Survivors included his widow, three married sons, two brothers and a sister-in-law, two sisters and a brother-in-law, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild and his beloved dog Jackie.
Celebration of Life Services were held at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and burial was in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full Military Honors.
