Beverly J. Burton, age 87, of Warsaw, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Bothwell Regional Health Care Center in Sedalia. She was born on April 30, 1929, the only child of Harry and Ruby (Casper) Kennedy.

As a young girl she moved with her parents to their home west of Warsaw. She attended school and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1947.

On December 25, 1948, she was united in marriage to Leo Burton in Joplin, Missouri. They made their home on a farm near Racket, Missouri, until being relocated by the Truman Dam project in 1986. They then moved to their farm in the Mt. Pleasant community near Lincoln, MO.

Beverly lived on a farm all of her life. She was a homemaker and helpmate to her husband, Leo, helping around the farm wherever needed. She also worked outside the home, first at IGA and then the Ben Franklin Store and finally for Coast to Coast where she retired after 25 years.

She had been Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #502 of Warsaw and while her sons were growing up, she and Leo served as 4-H Club leaders for several years.

She was a fabulous cook and cake decorator, she was a seamstress, and loved to garden, both vegetables and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo on October 25, 2007, and one son, Richard Burton on February 19, 1989.

Surviving is one son, Larry Burton, and wife, Cathy, of Lincoln, MO, five grandchildren, Gary Burton and wife, Robin, of Lincoln, Tari Barkley and husband, Matt, of Warsaw and Dustin Burton of Stover, Leslie Johnson and companion, Ryan, of Lee’s Summit and Scott Johnson of Warsaw, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Reser Funeral Home with Pastor Leonard Poppe officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM, Sunday afternoon at the Reser Funeral Home. Family suggest memorials be made to the Shawnee Cemetery or Shady Grove Cemetery in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
