David L. Brooks, 71, of Memphis, retired from Union Pacific Railroad, died at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2004, West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Bartlett Funeral Home had charge. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of Scottish Rite and Schoolfield United Methodist Church. Mr. Brooks, the husband of Evelyn J. Brooks, also leaves a daughter, Lauretta Brooks of West Memphis; three sons, David L. Brooks II of Wilburn, Ga., Laurence (Larry) L. Brooks of Columbus, MS and Patrick D. Brooks of Munford, TN; three sisters, Marie Blackwell of Rossville, Tenn., Mable Bullock of Slayden, Miss., and Florence Houck of College Grove, Tenn.; a brother, Richard Brooks of Camden, N.J., 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
