Bancroft - Orval Grant Lester, 80, of Bancroft, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs. He was born April 29, 1922, at Hilliard Flat, Wyoming, the son of William Powell and Alice Hutchinson Lester.

He married Clara Druesilla Passey December 13, 1941, at Rock Springs, Wyoming. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Mrs. Lester passed away May 14, 2001.

Orval was raised and educated in Evanston, Wyoming schools; he had lived in Utah and Wyoming, and in Bancroft since 1948.

He had worked for the State of Idaho Transportation Department in maintenance for many years. He was a high priest in the Bancroft LDS Second Ward. He had served in various positions.

He enjoyed working; he played various musical instruments, and he also enjoyed singing.

Orval is survived by six sons and five daughters and their spouses, Grant and Vernae Lester, Soda Springs, Darrell and Diane Lester, Bancroft, Reid and Wendy Lester, and Randy and Mary Lester, all of Grace, Bill and Barbara Lester and Joseph and Kelly Lester, all of Bancroft, Jeanelle and Russ Hayes, Georgetown, Joyce and Lenrie Collins, Bancroft, Virginia and Emmett Collins, Grace, Terri and Gene Sibbett, Smithfield, Utah, and Mary and Scot Bischoff, Malad. Also surviving are 40 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; also a brother, William Henry Lester, Riverton, Utah; and a sister, Gladys Delbridge, Bancroft, Idaho. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ida, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 21 at noon in the Bancroft LDS Chapel. Friends may call on Friday evening, Sept. 20 at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday at the Bancroft chapel from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
